Information

Tryptamine. Indolalkylamine hallucinogenic and stimulant drug. AMT is a potent re-uptake inhibitor and releaser of dopamine, noradrenaline and serotonin and serotonin receptor agonist.

Death data

A 22-year-old male died following ingestion of 'a large amount' of AMT (Boland et al, 2005). He was reported to be shaking, sweating and acutely agitated.

Short term effects

Lower doses tend to give stimulant like features with hypertension, tachycardia, diaphoresis, anxiety, headache, trismus, nausea and vomiting. Higher doseslead to hallucinations, agitation and confusion.
