N-methyl-2-aminoindane is an N-methylated aminoindane substance. It is structurally related to 2-aminoindane, a conformationally rigid analogue of amphetamine and by analogy, N-methyl-2-aminoindane is a conformationally rigid analogue of methamphetamine (N-methylamphetamine).
Aminoindanes possess significant bronchodilating and analgesic properties, but more recently research suggests such aminoindanes have potent effects on serotonin release and re-uptake.
