Information

Sertraline is a Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitor (SSRI). It is used for the treatment of depression, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and social anxiety disorder.

Short term effects

Central nervous system features include tremor, agitation, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, coma and convulsions. Nausea, vomiting, dilated pupils and sweating may occur. Cardiovascular features seen with SSRIs include tachycardia, hypotension, hypertension, prolongation of QT interval and QRS duration, Torsade de Pointes, and cardiac arrest. The serotonin syndrome may occur. Features of this syndrome include CNS effects, autonomic instability, and neuromuscular excitability.
